Insprint is (well, was) an and exciting way to search, compare and quote for printing…
Insprint became the operating name for 2899 Australia Pty Ltd when we began to undertake the development of a hugely complex, yet incredibly exciting web platform. Insprint is a concept for a comparison and quotation site for the commercial print industry. It was developed because we found a glaring hole in the Australian Print industry from the perspective of designers and print resellers looking for comprehensive print pricing. We came up with a fully featured solution for designers and print buyers to communicate and form relationships with print sellers. Insprint – where inspiration finds print. We worked on the project from top to bottom, project managing everything from the initial concept documentation and requirements to web design, branding and corporate guidelines. We did this through the multiple stages of project development, marketing research and database building. We worked with business analysts and developers from Australia but ultimately we succumbed to the fate of many a startup – we hit a funding wall and decided in 2016 to park the project. It resides on some server files now and threatens to be rekindled, but a steady stream of projects from our clients pushed it to the bottom of a queue and it gathers some digital dust.
It is a strange thing to put in a portfolio, because it was not actually finished, but we’re sort of proud of it. Proud of the journey and proud of what we learned. We spent so much time in the development space from conceptualising and wire framing to building and refining the visual face of the site too that we feel the work is valid. We still use the colours and print imagery in our brand creatives several years later, although we have modified the logo element and moved it on, but visually it still works and maybe one day the platform can too!
